Encoder or hardware acceleration errors

Worth trying first

These fix this problem most of the time. If none of them do, the form below is still here.

Encoder errors when recording Recording uses your GPU’s hardware encoder where one is available, and falls back to the CPU where it is not. Errors here are almost always about which encoder was picked.
  1. Note your exact GPU model — hardware encoders differ between AMD, NVIDIA and Intel, and between generations.
  2. Update your graphics drivers and restart.
  3. Switch the encoder to a software option in settings. If that records successfully, the hardware encoder is the problem and we want to know which one.
  4. Open a ticket with your GPU model, driver version, and the exact error text.
